Commercials

I really enjoyed watching the Dove Evolution commercial. It is very clear the message it is trying to portray, and I am very glad it does. It was about time that all the model aspirants realize that their role models are not entirely who they pose to be. It is very easy to simply smash on makeup, have a professional photo shoot, and be photo-shoped completely and make an ordinary girl look like a Goddess. Girls should not obsess on perfect bodies and look for perfection, because it does not exist, as the video shows. Girls should understand and accept themselves for who they are. These sorts of commercials are the ones that should be on TV rather than the ones who just care to sell. This commercial cares to open peoples’ eyes. The commercial that comes to my mind is the Nissan Leaf commercial referencing to Global Warming. It had a very profound effect on me since it definitely makes people open their eyes to a whole new light about how horrible global warming is, and how sad. I can bet those are the types of commercials that really sell to people, in an emotional level and not so much a vanity level.

I will definitely use the emotional side elements in order to make a change and actually sell. Although, it is not the same to make a statement as to make people feel guilt. Even though a commercial lasts a very short amount of time, it does make a change and gets people thinking that there are ways to help out. In my commercial, I will first start out making a statement of a very well known problem of the world, and then I will use that problem to make a solution, which in his case is the object that I want to sell. The challenges will be to make it actually look real and make a good point about the situation. That is what a commercial should portray and I will make it work by speaking the truth. No lies like in practically every makeup commercial. I will look for natural perfection not fake perfection.

Bay in a Day Project

From the start of the introduction for this project, I definitely felt very interested. I think it is an awesome idea to make videos of what life is like for us. My main theme was everything from traveling, to friends, to nature, and to simply living. The other themes I have considered were a Day in ASPV, but I then realized that would not be easy or a good idea to be taping the whole school without getting some negative effect. Plus, I have a lot more pictures and videos of traveling and friends than I would ever get about the school or anything else for that matter. Now that I see the finished video, the theme is pretty clear. Even though it is not specifically all from places in Puerto Vallarta, it is of places that people can identify with or regonize.

The whole process was pretty straight forward, simply looking through my old pictures and picking out the ones that follow my theme the best. Since my pictures are very organized this was very easy to do. Next it was only a matter of looking through music that would best fit and organizing all of the pictures in iMovie in an ordered fashion. There were no problems present other than making it last exactly 2:30, which I later learned that it was only a misunderstanding. It had to last a MINIMUM of 2:30. Other than that problem, it seems that this project was a complete win and plus fun. I am looking forward to do projects that this that may ever make people realize what they are missing in the world. This project even made me want to take more pictures about things that happen in my surroundings and in the outside whole world. by doing this many people can change the way they see things. Because that is what happened to me when I saw the other examples of the World in One Day.

One Day on Earth

I liked the video very much. I love that kind of media where you get to see everything. You get to see what goes on, on other people’s minds. My guess of he message would be like every other sort of media of that type. Save and help the world. Or maybe how much the world has changed from what it used to be. Even the music gives it that little touch of humanity and change. There are some very strong images on the trailers. Clips about fires, poverty, and births. Those sorts of things are what really reach out to people. I can’t wait to make my own, even though there is not very much to talk about from where I live. It is very entertaining to see those very creative and personal videos. They are definitely something that expresses the emotions of people.

The whole fire and poverty scenes were very powerful. It is something that makes you think that you are not alone in this world. There are other things, and bigger problems. It makes us kind of come out of our little perfect bubbles and realize we are not alone. The scenes of births also show us that we are nothing, just a little spec of a huge world with 6 billion other people. So what will we choose to do with our lives? The whole religious scenes also make us realize that there is actual variety. Kids from all over the world happy no matter what their situation is. That is what I call interesting.

Car Fuel Saving

Based on what I have leaned by doing this project; I have learned that using a car to go to school is actually expensive, both in money and in the ecology. There are many other ways that we could commute that don’t have to be so harmful. Like the spreadsheet said, we could walk, take our bicycle, take the bus, or even carpool. Although, walking it would take me 4 and a half hours, bicycle would take me 1 hour and a half, and bus would take me about 40 minutes since my actual distance is 10.31 km. All of these other options help us in economical ways. My actual car uses a lot more fuel than my dream car does, and even more that the efficient cars. My car costs me:

$6,214.15 per year.

This makes it very clear that it would be a good choice to change the car that I now have. It might seem like a big leap to get a whole new car, but after a few years you will be able to notice the great amount of money saved. Help the environment help you.

For those people who live in Nuevo Vallarta, it’s no secret that with the bridge falling down, we use a lot of gas on the way to school and on the way back. On average with my mom’s Toyota Highlander we use 690.4607 Liters per year. This is a lot of Liters for only going to school and back. My dream car however, only uses 598.9079 Liters per year. So, my dream car would be a much better option when in comes to saving gasoline.
