I really enjoyed watching the Dove Evolution commercial. It is very clear the message it is trying to portray, and I am very glad it does. It was about time that all the model aspirants realize that their role models are not entirely who they pose to be. It is very easy to simply smash on makeup, have a professional photo shoot, and be photo-shoped completely and make an ordinary girl look like a Goddess. Girls should not obsess on perfect bodies and look for perfection, because it does not exist, as the video shows. Girls should understand and accept themselves for who they are. These sorts of commercials are the ones that should be on TV rather than the ones who just care to sell. This commercial cares to open peoples’ eyes. The commercial that comes to my mind is the Nissan Leaf commercial referencing to Global Warming. It had a very profound effect on me since it definitely makes people open their eyes to a whole new light about how horrible global warming is, and how sad. I can bet those are the types of commercials that really sell to people, in an emotional level and not so much a vanity level.
I will definitely use the emotional side elements in order to make a change and actually sell. Although, it is not the same to make a statement as to make people feel guilt. Even though a commercial lasts a very short amount of time, it does make a change and gets people thinking that there are ways to help out. In my commercial, I will first start out making a statement of a very well known problem of the world, and then I will use that problem to make a solution, which in his case is the object that I want to sell. The challenges will be to make it actually look real and make a good point about the situation. That is what a commercial should portray and I will make it work by speaking the truth. No lies like in practically every makeup commercial. I will look for natural perfection not fake perfection.
